Abu Dhabi Desert Safari

After wildlife safaris and river raftings, I felt quite bold in demanding for a Deser Safari. I mean come on!! When your parents have been living in Middle East for the last 15 years or so, you are entitled to be a bit demanding. Since I was able to do it safely in Abu Dhabhi, hence the concerned warning to the rest: DO NOT try to be a brave, noble soul and attempt to do this alone. Register yourself with tours and travels group like United arab emirates tours. They will explain how to go about it and also maintain the safety factor, at a cost of 250 dirhams per person, which is around 4250 indian rupees, with an inclusion of pickups, food, beverage, rides, and belly dancing.

After picking you up from your choice of destination, all the tour cars will meet at one point where they reduce the air pressure in the car tubes to ensure a smooth ride over the sand dunes and to prevent explosion of tires due to heat and friction (or whatever the physics logic entails :P). Once the deed is done, we make a pit stop at the camel breeding site.

The impressions that we had during our school days regarding sand dunes will be completely abolished as your safari journey continues. Dune bashing, the correct terminology, is an exhilarating activity which will literally make your stomach go through an upheaval. So a friendly advise, do not go for desert safari on a full stomach. And a professional medical advise, if you are of the faint heart or suffer through asthma, I will not recommend this for you at all.

The camp is a beautiful resting place where you can refreshen yourself and facilities are also available for those who are interested to go for sand boarding or bungee riding or even camel riding.

I wanted to try out sand boarding but unfortunately some of the boards didn’t have a reliable foot straps and I didn’t want to risk an ankle sprain over there at that point of time. My mom mentioned that last time there were falcons at the camp. Unfortunately I didn’t come across any this time. So keep an eye out for that!!! The food will be served sharp at 7 pm as the sun goes down, followed by a taste of Arabian Sheesha if you are willing (which surprisingly my parents encouraged me to try out 😛 ;))

After a delightful dinner in Arabian style, the much anticipated entertainment of the night, traditional belly dancing was finally brought forward to the audience. I swear I am gonna start that as a new project now. The intense abdominal exercise and discipline is way too tempting not to do so. I actually took more videos of the dance act than pictures, but I give the lady full credit for being so marvelous.

The camp will break down by 9 and you will be gracefully taken back to your respective cars with refilled tubes. It’s a bouncy ride back home until you come across the main road. But it is a definite fun ride.
